"DRY MY TEARS"

"Dry my Tears"

(II Act Stage Play)

by
Zara Jane Juan

The story evolves to a young student nun, Sr. Trina who was required by her university study to undergo an “immersion” in a depressed area near the shore. Being a new nun with still yet limited emotional development, she got involve in the psychological dynamics as well as physical needs of the poor for them to survive. The innocent prayer and a simple act of faith of a teenager Yvonne serves as pressure for this young nun to uplift the spirituality and faith of the poor but while doing so, she herself got entangled in the conflict of her approach to the mission of the congregation where she belongs, which, naturally causes disharmony in her relationship to her superiors. Adding to the perk of the story are some of the realities of a convent life with trimmings on the happiness and repulsions encountered by other nuns on outreach activities.

What you are about to see ladies and gentlemen are the common realities of life happening inside the box of a formation house and usual life of people outside. The stories are compilation of outputs by the work shoppers consisting solely of Sacred Heart Reparatrix nuns, postulants and aspirants. For three months, the participants learn from their Director and Superiors how to discipline themselves by being the flexible artists as effective medium of a stage play while maintaining the required character of a religious person inside the box of the congregation. The whole Creative Process from workshop to stage play presentation serves as a way for the participants to settle unfinished emotional hang-ups and being free to be true to one’s emotional state. Without missing prayer schedule, the whole exercise immerses the intellectual, spiritual and emotional state of the participants and taught them how to manage old and new emotional viruses heads on without being emotionally paralyze. They learn how to work on clarity, truthfulness and sincerity to a given task no matter how hard it is physically and intellectually.

This is a breakthrough approach, for it gave a formula that artistic freedom and conservatism in maintaining existing order can be given their space to meet and work for the common good. It is also good to share for the Catholic Religious Community and common people outside the community, that the so-called “Now” Modern Living is Liberated and Free but what Gives the Direction to Achieve Perfection and Holiness is for an Individual to Continuously Work on Being Consistent to the Order and Guidelines of Man’s Civilization
owed to the Catholic Discipline of Conservatism.
